| A loaded ethanol train out of Arthur, IA, digs into the grade on Scales Mound Hill between Galena and Scales Mound. The railroad lifts eastbound out of the Mississippi River Valley for 8 miles on a .8% grade in the remote part of northwestern Illinois. These 3 units would get down to around 13 mph pulling the 98 loads bound for interchange with the NS in Chicago. The train nears Council Hill as they cross the East Fork of the Galena River. |
