Remarks & Notes |
A Blue Island to KC auto train drifts downgrade between Ethel and Marceline on the Marceline Sub. These old style ex-Santa Fe signal bridges are about all done being in active service on the Marceline. The few other ones that were remaining were lost in November to another round of signal upgrades that went on around Bucklin and west of Fort Madison. These signals haven't had the original signals on them for a long time, but beggars cant be choosers. One of the cool things the Santa Fe did on this curvy railroad was put set of directional signals in curves where needed. I would guess that will not be the practice once these signals are replaced. One can see the westbound signal 13 cars back on the other side of the curve. |
