| The Rio Grande received a batch of 25 new SD45's back in 1967-68. Many of those units went thru the UP merger and were sent to MK for rebuilding in the late 90's. Alot of these units have been sent all over via different leasing companies and many have been scrapped. A few of these old gems are still left in 2020 and moving freight. One such one is the WAMX 4223, ex-DRGW 5325. The local crew at Prairie du Chien works past the river front and by the old depot and the Dousman House. The Dousman House was built in 1864 by the Milwaukee and Prairie du Chien Railroad as their hotel. This crew just went to work at 14:00 as we pulled up, lucky for us! |
