On Burlington Northern’s triple-track main line from Chicago to Aurora, another commuter train, or “dinky” as they are called locally, heads west on Track 1 at Highlands, Illinois, on August 2, 1986.
Several Chicago railroads, including Burlington, Chicago & Northwestern, Illinois Central, Milwaukee Road and Rock Island, provided extensive service to and from the Chicago suburbs.
