A Bridge Too Far. Under its normal schedule, Amtrak’s Maple Leaf (Train 64) will originate in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with a VIA crew as Train 97. But with the current COVID-19 related curtailment of the schedule, it originates in Niagara Falls, New York, where it is seen on Monday, September 14, 2020. It has an addition to its normal consist of former Northern Pacific Budd built dome/coach 549 (WEBX 801045) with P42DC 103 leading. In the background the Whirlpool Bridge spans the Niagara Falls and joins the two towns of the same name on either side of the border. Its track is owned by Canadian National but scheduled for use only by this pair of passenger trains, and as such it has sat largely untouched since the beginning of the pandemic.
