A Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Blue Line train arrives at the Arlington Cemetery station on its trip from Franconia-Springfield VA to Largo MD. The majority of Washington DC's Metro is a subway, but there are above-ground sections as well, such as here. This system opened in 1976 with 300 of these Rohr cars, and today just two of them remain in service. Metro serves the District of Columbia as well as reaching a bit into Virginia and Maryland.
