| An EMD 645 prime mover could be heard for miles laboring up the steep Northbound grade up to the peak of the Cumberland Plateau. Finally X582 exit's the 2,200ft long Cumberland Mountain Tunnel at Cowan and passes under the famous Tracy City Branch which was also known as the Mountain Goat Line due to the treacherous grades it encountered climbing up the Cumberland Plateau. The line was abandoned in 1985 and parts of it are now a walking trail. |
