Grade this photo. Webb Rail's former Northern Pacific Railway Budd built Pullman dome/sleeper 313 (WEBX 801044) and former New York Central Railroad Budd built Pullman obs/diner/sleeper "Babbling Brook" (WEBX 800007) held the markers of the Amtrak Coast Starlight (Amtrak 14) as it climbed the former Southern Pacific Cuesta Grade in San Luis Obispo, California on July 25, 2020. The first Southern Pacific train crossed these tracks and arrived in San Luis Obispo on May 5, 1894, and subsequently the infrastructure was rebuilt and relined with concrete while maintaining service between 1940-1959. The train is approaching the steepest portion of the climb, 2.2% as it closes in on Tunnel 6. What a great trip to take in the dome!
