On October 26, the Zamora-Pedralba High Speed section was inaugurated. This newly released infrastructure saves 50 minutes on the journey between Madrid and Galicia, but with it, the vast majority of the rail traffic that circulated through Martín Gil Viaduct disappears. Currently this section is only used by a tiny Medium Distance train and a freight that only makes an appearance once a week. The transfers of material between Madrid and Galicia will continue to be carried out also by this imposing viaduct, but such a low number of circulations will hardly justify that we fans approach this magnificent railway pilgrimage point. I'm going to miss it a lot because, although I have visited it many times, it still impressed me every time I saw it. Without a doubt, I will continue to take photos around the province of Zamora since there are still interesting sections of the conventional line that are still operating from Pedralba. Who knows if in one of those visits it coincides that the elusive freight circulates through Martín Gil by day and with a favorable light ... In that case, do not doubt that I would completely change my plans and would be delighted to meet again with this spectacular and magical viaduct. Alvia train Madrid-Galicia.
