CSXT 8954 began life as Seaboard Coast Line SD45-2 #2049, as part of the railroads order of SD45-2's. Its life was not very notable, but it is one of the few SD45's from Seaboard roads that still exist, let alone without having been downrated to an SD40-2. It was also one of the last CSX units to be in the famous YN1 scheme, having had the scheme until being repainted in 2014. It spent its final years as a training locomotive at the engineer school in Atlanta until 2018, when it barely survived the scrappers torch when it was donated to the Southeastern Railway Museum. Although still operable, the locomotive is too big to navigate the museum under its own power on a regular basis. It's more than unlikely that this once mighty SD45-2 will roam the rails once more.
