On November 18, VIA #6 sustained significant damage to its lead unit (VIA 6455) from a large fallen tree at Lucas, BC. On November 20, VIA Rail dispatched a “Hospital Train” out of Vancouver, BC to Jasper, AB to replace the ailing locomotive. Running as P00251 20, the short train has just departed Geikie and is only 8 miles away from its destination.
