Merry Christmas from Maine! Every year, on the last Saturday before Christmas, the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum hosts it's Victorian Christmas event, featuring free train rides, visits with Santa, sleigh rides, hot drinks, model railroads.....it's an event I have attended for a dozen years and something I truly look forward to. Alas, in this bizarre year of 2020, with the ongoing COVID epidemic, our museum leadership determined last fall, that it just wouldn't be safe to host an event that tends to be quite crowded. That turned out to be a great call, as cases have really spiked everywhere in the weeks following Thanksgiving. So, until next year, when hopefully we'll all be a lot healthier and happier, here's a fond memory of Victorian Christmas back in 2016, which featured an all-day snowfall, and conditions that were ideal for all of the planned activities. This particular image features WW&F Locomotive #9, an 1891-vintage Portland Product, enveloped in steam and snow as she prepares to depart Alna Center Station with a load of Christmas revelers.
