Since I can’t get out and chase trains much in my new home of Rochester, MN right now (Covid-19 you know!), I have been spending a lot of time combing my files of past railfan trips. And guess what? I’m finding quite a few good shots that I have overlooked in the past for RailPictures posting, such as this westbound Valmy coal train fully strung out around Arnold's Loop on the east slope of the Toano Range in eastern Nevada. The Valmy plant is west of Battle Mountain, Nevada. It's Unit #1 is scheduled to be retired by the end of 2021 and the entire plant by 2025. The loss of Valmy’s output will be replaced by solar generated power, or so they say.
