Creeping off into the sunset. With the cold winter sun about to dip below the horizon, a re-creation of the Norfolk & Western's "Virginia Creeper" heads west toward Abingdon, Virginia, with a few empty freight cars and a few lonely passengers huddled around the coal stoves in the coaches.
This 2010 re-creation was staged by Lerro Productions, on Pennsylvania's Strasburg Rail Road, featuring N&W M-Class Locomotive #475 dressed as her long-lost sister #382, which ran on the Abingdon Branch. This photo was taken at Paradise Lane, just outside East Strasburg, PA.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
