Remarks & Notes |
Side view of the Minaz #1411. Built in 1916, the locomotive emerged from the Baldwin Philadelphia factory as a 0-6-0 and came new to USA contractor John Marsch as #55. By september 1917 it had been rebuilt into its final form and was then sold to the Cuba Cane Sugar Company as #100 for use at the mill which is now known as Seis de Agosto. Adding the front pony truck did not affect other dimensions however and the 16 x 24 in. cylinders still continued to turn the 50 in. driving wheels, although it is hard to imagine the locomotive we see today without its leading pair. It looks just right as it is, so it must have presented a very strange appearance before. |
