Santa Fe Railway’s Topeka shops built Baggage Car 3922 in 1958, and in 1970 it was one of ten Baggage Cars to be rebuilt into Steam Generator Cars in order to provide steam when steam line-equipped dual-service F45s were assigned to passenger trains. At that time, it was renumbered 133. When, in 1972, Seaboard Coast Line, Frisco and the Santa Fe operated a special promotional train from Richmond, California, to Richmond, Virginia to promote improved transcontinental service, thanks to an improved ATSF-SLSF connection in Avard OK, SCL’s Bicentennial U36B 1776 was selected as power, and Santa Fe painted 133 and their Display Car 5005 to match, as did Frisco with their caboose 1776. Following that train’s run, ATSF 133 was placed back in the pool for use on Amtrak trains, most often working on trains 3 and 4, the Southwest Limited (successor to Santa Fe’s Super Chief/El Capitan).
