Former French Railways SNCF 4-8-2 "Mountain" 4 cylinder compound express train steam locomotive 241 A # 65 built in 1931 by Fives/Lille for the ETAT railway company, owned and operated now by association 241 A 65 in Full/Argovie, Switzerland, is racing through the Thur valley near Hüttlingen-Mettendorf with about 100 km p.h. Since 2018, this impressive largest hand fired operational steamlocomotive of Europe is undergoing new boiler tubes work in Full/Argovie, as well as other work such as replacement of stud bolts, over-torquing of wheel sets, etc. The locomotive has a maximal power of about 2570 kW and 110 km/h (68 mph) maximum velocity, driving wheel diameter is 1950 mm (6,4 ft). She was withdrawn by the SNCF in 1965 and was purchased by the swiss gentleman Armin Glaser in 1968 and brought to Switzerland. In 1996 she was renovated and made operational in the Dampflokwerk Meiningen/Germany.
