Passing through downtown Birmingham is a Norfolk Southern eastbound with a quartet of clean diesels with interesting lineage: SD40-2 3201 (ex-Southern Railway 3201), SD40-2 6171 (ex-Norfolk & Western 6171), GP38-3 5833 (ex-SOU/CNOTP GP50 7043) and SD40-2 3332 (ex-Conrail 6361). NS 3201 was rebuilt with an Admiral Cab and "home-made" short hood, which replaced the high short-hood that it was built with. (Birmingham, Alabama – October 4, 2015)
