| Alittle heritage can still be found along the Iowa Northern's Oelwein Sub between Waterloo and Oelwein. This was the Chicago Great Western's mainline to Kansas City from Oelwein. The CGW once had cement mileposts and whistle posts scattered along all their routes. Now days it is hard to find any of these items along current or abandoned right of ways. A cement whistle post can be found a few miles east of Fairbank as the Jordan Spreader works north towards Oelwein opening the railroad back up. |
