After what I considered a bad morning on the Pickens, I decided to head south to see if I could manage any luck on the Hartwell, a notoriously difficult shortline to shoot due to the fact that not even the crews know what they'll do doing that day & the fact that they leave their power all over the place when they're done with it. Thankfully, I turned out to be lucky on this day from the moment I got off I-85 south. Here, we see the 1973, a straight GP38 which began life as Penn Central 7874 & still sports its Conrail paint scheme & CSX reporting number, heading south with a short two car train to switch out a customer.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
