Recently erected and densely spaced constant tension catenary supports line the barrel of this improved segment of the Northeast Corridor. This is part of the NJ High-Speed Rail Improvement Program - a $450 million dollar project to increase speeds and reliability between New Brunswick and Trenton, NJ. Though announced in 2013, with an expected completion date of 2017, the project appears just now near completion in 2021. And just in time, as it is expected that the new Acela Avelia Liberty Express trains will soon be in service ready to run at 160 mph on this segment, vs the 135 mph limit allowed previously.
