Russell bound manifest Q694-13 crosses the Levisa Fork westbound on the Big Sandy Subdivision on a dreary March afternoon. At left is the bridge of the Big Sandy Sub's predecessor, the Chatteroi Railway, which was built in the 1880's via Threemile Creek along present day KY 1690 to reach coal mining & timber reserves in the Richardson area. The present day route was completed in the 1890s to avoid the original grade, which included a switchback into the community of Peach Orchard, and would eventually be extended to a connection with the Carolina, Clinchfield, & Ohio at Elkhorn City, KY.
