“Mind if I Play Through?” While following the North Branch of the Patapsco River between Westminster and Finksburg, the Maryland Midland Railway bisects the River Downs Golf Club and its associated residential community. Here, about to pass the green on the 10th, a combined UBEG and UBST, led by MMID SD40-2 3451, is eastbound (compass SW) at Lawndale Road (mp 25.1). In about two miles, UBEG/UBST will drop its stone loads at the Barrick Terminal in Finksburg (mp 23.0) before continuing on to Emory Grove (mp 20.0) to interchange its cement loads with CSX. As if it didn’t already have sufficient symbology, while working at Emory Grove, “Z437” would be applied by CSX’s BF Dispatcher.
