Almost Home. CSX GP40WH-2 9969 (ex-MARC 69, née-New York Central Railroad 3051, GP40) was sitting tied down with its Geometry Cars in Newburgh, New York for the weekend, seen here on Sunday, April 12, 2015. As a former New York Central engine, it would be at home on the closer tracks of the River Sub/West Shore Railroad. But it is actually sitting on the former Erie Railroad Newburgh Branch, now CSX Newburgh Industrial Track. On April 1, 1976 these former competitors were joined under the Conrail Corporation.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
