Remarks & Notes |
An Eastbound intermodal train is seen descending the 5213-foot summit at Marias Pass at an area known as False Summit, about a mile East from the top of the pass. John F. Stevens first explored the pass in 1889, hired by James J. Hill to engineer the Great Northern Railway over the Continental Divide. By comparison, Marias is much lower than other points across the divide. |
