My father and I moved to the Park Avenue overpass on the east side of South Plainfield for the arrival of NE-1 on March 6, 1976.
We were rewarded with C628s 639-640, the first time we saw C628s east of Phillipsburg, NJ in over a year. The C628s became very rare in New Jersey after the arrival of the U23Bs in late December 1974, but came back for a last hurrah after having been banned from the D&H Penn Division in early 1976.
