SCAX MW01, Metrolink's sole operating caboose, has returned to the high iron once again as it serves on Metrolink's rail train - seen here parked in the "coast siding" at Burbank Junction as Metrolink 121, the last outbound train on the Ventura County Line for the day, races towards its next station stop of Burbank Airport - South (VC Line). The nearly 50-year-old caboose, originally built for the Illinois Central, once served annually on Metrolink's Christmas train operations but has rarely turned a wheel since the Southern California rail commuter agency ceased those holiday runs.
