Next stop: Log Cabin. After clearing Canadian Customs and watering up at the last remaining water tank on the entire line, the White Pass Rotary Fleet heads north along the western shore of Lake Fraser, heading for Log Cabin, BC, with a stretch goal of making it to Bennett. The fleet today consists of Rotary Plow #1, Steam Locomotives #73 and #69, and Combine #211. The snow here is perhaps 1-2 feet deep and Superintendent Hanousek's goal of reaching Bennett looks very doable to the crew as you see them right now. Unfortunately, mother nature had other plans this day. On the way to Log Cabin, the train encountered a couple of deeply drifted sections of track, where snow blowing off the lake had accumulated. Both sections took more than a half hour to clear. The train did reach Log Cabin, and after some brief servicing, did depart north for Bennett, with our chase train following closely. But once again, snow depths on the line to Bennett proved deeper than expected and just a couple of miles short of the goal, water began running low. With no water available at Bennett and the crew also beginning to run out of hours, the train would be forced to retreat back here to Fraser for the night. For the crew, it was frustrating, because they wanted to finish their plowing mission on this day. For the photographers who were there for the amazing images this operation was producing, the news that we'd be running a 4th day was greeted with a round of cheers and applause.
