| "Electric Trains to Oyster Bay?"
On the night of April 18th, 2021, LIRR Bombardier M7 pair 7604/7603 sits tied down on the runaround track at Oyster Bay station, shortly after being towed up from Hillside Yard by diesel locomotives. The pair was brought up to be on display for the unveiling of a battery electric multiple unit (BEMU) pilot program at a press conference the following morning. The project involves Alstom retrofitting cars from the current electric fleet with battery technology for testing on the Oyster Bay Branch.
