"LIRR Tow Job at Water Mill"
Long Island Railroad Extra 163 tows disabled train 2703's equipment west past the former Water Mill station on the Montauk Line in Water Mill, NY. 2703 suffered locomotive issues just east of Amagansett warranting a tow back to the shops at Jamaica. The Water Mill stationhouse seen in the photo was originally constructed in 1903 with the completion of the Montauk Extension by the LIRR, then closed just before 1968. Between sitting dormant for many years, the stationhouse served as a dress shop, restaurant and now one of the main offices for Party Rental Limited.
