Second Generation Branch Line. On the evening of Tuesday, July 21, 2020, Genesee & Wyoming's San Joaquin Valley Railroad 2122 (BL20-2, EMD, 1992) leads SJVR 3000 (Progress Rail PR30B) and a healthy cut of cars out of Union Pacific's Bakersfield Yard. EMD returned to the BL designation after the GP series, and would build 3 of these 4 axle 2,000 horsepower units as demonstrators on the frames of GP9s. After not producing any further models, they would wind up on the SJVR where they continue to serve today.
