Led by EMD SD50 No. 5029 and EMD SD40-2 No. 3948, a southbound Union Pacific taconite ore train curves toward Goose Lake south of Partridge, Michigan, on the afternoon of January 19, 1997. After UP merged Chicago & North Western in 1995, it worked the ore line to Escanaba for only a short time before Wisconsin Central, and later Canadian National, took over operations.
