CSXT train T21122 weaves through the S curves and under the westbound and eastbound facing signals outside of Covington, VA on May 22, 2021. This part of the CSX system, the Allegheny Subdivision extending from Clifton Forge, VA to Hinton, WV, is known for its vast diversity of scenery. Containing rock cuts, lush evergreen forest at higher elevations and heavy mountain grades, it is a prime example of the terrain the C&O had to conquer about 150 years ago during this line's completion.
