Sadness On The Main Line of Mid-America. In 1901 the Illinois Central Railroad built a then new station in McComb, Mississippi. After falling victim to a lack of maintenance and an unfortunate meeting with a freight train, it was restored in 1998, and again in 2003. During the midday of Sunday, May 30, 2021, the station was significantly damaged by fire in spite of the efforts of responding firefighters. No further details are know about the cause of the fire at this time.
