Salina was on a looping branch off MP's Pueblo main, and normal service in the early 1980s was a local with a geep or two and a handful of cars. When grain was moving, MP would send as-needed extras to Salina to take out long unit grain trains, often with C-C power. Here, one of MP's coal service 6000-series SD40-2s (SD40-2c in MP parlance) is teamed with two 'regular' SD40-2s on an extra. The crew has parked their power at UP station (which was a Union Station for UP, MP, CRIP & ATSF) and gone across the street for some chow.
