Southern' ex-CofG Birmingham-Columbus, GA main was loaded up with GP38s and GP38-2s in the early 1970s when I first started hanging around the tracks. Other models showed up regularly, but the boxy 2,000hp model - which seemed boring to me, especially in black - dominated. That's why I considered this train - powered by a pair of GP30s and a pair of GP35s - an early present the dat before my 22nd birthday.
