Grand Junction Anniversary Runner. Amtrak 46 (P42DC, 50th Anniversary) lead Train 864 under the Boston University Bridge and over the Grand Junction Railroad Bridge and the Charles River from Cambridge to Boston, Massachusetts on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 21, 2021. The train was returning from a PTC test run to Portland, Maine via the route of the Amtrak Downeaster. The next day, the set would terminate in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, traveling over the Northeast Corridor Line. This section of railroad only sees passenger trains on non-revenue moves from MBTA and Amtrak.
