Delaware Lackawanna's CNJ RS-3 rests in the yard at Steamtown, in Scranton, PA, prior to pulling a short excursion train during Steamtown's 2015 Railfest event. No. 1554 was built for the CNJ in 1953. The locomotive lead the last CNJ passenger train out of Allentown and later powered the cleanup train when the Jersey Central pulled out of the Keystone State for good in 1972. And now - she's back, albeit, about a mile from the former CNJ main, at Steamtown on former Delaware, Lackawanna & Western tracks.
Don Colangelo, retired CMO (and sometimes piano player) at the DL Scranton shops cared for the many ALCOs, MLWs and a few EMDs that passed in and out of South Scranton and Von Storch shop doors.
Here is a look and many of those units.
