A Santa Fe piggyback train, most likely the 891 (Los Angeles CA to Chicago IL) has just made a crew change in San Bernardino and it once again moving east. A quartet of ATSF Dash 8-40BWs – the three clean ones (562, 560 and 561) are from the nearly one year old order, and the grubby one is from the previous order, nearly two years back – are providing 16,000 horsepower for this train. Lead engine 562 would retain that number after the ATSF-BN merger (as BNSF 562) before being sold in May 2010 to New England’s Providence & Worcester as their 562, with the P&W later renumbering it 4006.
