Delaware & Hudson train MA-2 (Mechanicville, NY – Allentown, PA) was one of several run-through trains that brought D&H power to Allentown and Lehigh Valley power to D&H destinations. Here a pair of D&H RS36’s bracket a pair of U23B’s bringing the train past the Dragon Cement mill in Siegfried, Pennsylvania. In five days, the Lehigh Valley will cease to exist, and the D&H will be operating its own trains on trackage rights over this route. The concurrent addition of 20 Reading GP39-2’s, twelve Lehigh Valley GP38-2’s, and a dozen LV C420’s to the D&H roster will make the sight of a pure set of lightning stripes a rare occurrence.
