ALCO Safari Day 5, LA&L: On a beautiful August morning, LAL 72 makes a trip to the extreme end of track in Lakeville to retrieve a couple cars, the other side of the trees is Lake Conesus. LA&L is 80 years old this year, built in 1941, making it one of the oldest diesels used every day in revenue service.
From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.
