On Sunday August 15 2021, the preserved Tait set visited Hurstbridge on a driver training special, which also ran to Mernda, Sunbury and Flemington Racecourse. This train has not been able to run on the main line since 2004, but is now going through the process of testing and training in order to begin public tours again. This was also the first time a Tait set had visited Hurstbridge since the mid 90s. This tight 40km/h curve in the bush north of Eltham is one of my all time favourite locations, and also the closest point of a railway to my house.
