Train 449, the Boston section of Amtrak’s Lake Shore Limited, is passing the site of the former General Electric Plant in Pittsfield, MA. Leading the consist to Albany-Rensselaer is P42 108 in Phase VI, the first adaptation of the latest Amtrak livery. There are six locomotives painted celebrating Amtrak’s 50th Anniversary.
Once treated like a backwater with decrepit locomotives, cars and track, Massachusetts has become a star in the Amtrak constellation with electrification to Boston, service to Maine and an upgraded Connecticut Valley line.
