An eastbound ballast train on the Minnesota Prairie Line passes the elevator in North Redwood, MN. After being derelict for quite some time and on the brink of destruction, this elevator has been given new life, once again filling hopper cars to be shipped to Minneapolis. The ballast cars headed back east are also a sign of new life. They were used as part of a project to upgrade the siding serving the new elevator constructed this spring in Echo, MN, allowing that facility to once again ship by rail as well.
