Allied Tube & Conduit SW14 8304 was constructed by EMD as Illinois Central SW9 9437 in June 1951. Through the years, it assumed other identities: IC SW9 437 and then Illinois Central Gulf SW9 437. ICG rebuilt it into an SW14 and numbered it ICG 1463 when completed. When the ICG shed the “Gulf” from their name, it became IC SW14 1463. It was later sold through dealer OmniTrax to another dealer, Mobile Locomotive Services, which them sold it to Manufacturers Junction (as MJ 1463) and later to Allied Tube & Conduit, which renumbered it ATCX 8304. This poor switcher is worn out, and hasn’t operated for some time. It is due to be scrapped very soon.
