After picking up at the Gettysburg and Northern interchange, D795's rare pair of YN2 AC44s gets their train underway at the infamous Railway Cut. Before the Western Maryland laid rails through this cut, Confederate soldiers used it for protection during the Battle of Gettysburg on July 1, 1863. When the Union soldiers attacked the Confederates that afternoon, the bloody cut earned its place in history. Remnants of the most recently-known missing body from that day in 1863 were found in this cut in 1996.
