Just about one year ago, a major change took place on Canadian National's Bessemer Subdivision in the form of new power and new operations. EMD SD70M-2 locomotives were sent to the line to utilize their distributed power capability on the iron ore trains that run from Conneaut, Ohio to North Bessemer, Pennsylvania, outside Pittsburgh. After a trial run with a 1x1 DPU on October 15th, a third unit was added for the second run on October 17th, utilizing a 2x1 DPU setup to bring 110 loads south. The train is seen here crossing the Osgood Trestle in Osgood, Pennsylvania as the train takes the "High Line" around Greenville. The trestle crosses over the Bessemer "Low Line," Crooked Creek, Werner Road, and the NS Meadville Line, as well as a former NYC right of way.
