| Whitby is a seaside town on the North East coast of England where, according to Bram Stoker, the ship The Demeter ran aground on rocks by the harbour giving Dracula the chance to escape onto land. It is a popular haunt for Goths and would be heaving with people 6 days after this shot was taken. The scene is dominated by the ruins of Whitby abbey which was built in the 12th century and also by the steam train which runs along National rail metals until it reaches Goathland when it is back on North Yorkshire Moors lines, making it only one of two places in the country weher preserved locomotives run on the national network |
