Remarks & Notes

Fall color on the Rio Grande Southern. The aspens are in full bloom in Western Colorado as Rio Grande Southern 10-Wheeler #20 charges westward with a short freight on a cloudy morning in September. This re-creation was shot on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, just east of the Osier Station at about Milepost 316.1. The scenery on this portion of the line is a lot more like what the 20 would have seen during her career on the 162-mile line from Durango, to Ridgway, CO back in the early part of the 20th century.
