A couple of leased GP38-2s provide power for this day's Housatonic Railroad NX-12 as it switches the Specialty Minerals limestone plant in North Canaan. Once done, the train will head north to the CSX interchange in Pittsfield, MA, about 30 miles distant. The locomotive in the foreground was originally built for the Penn Central as a GP38, while the trailing unit started life as an Illinois Central GP40.
